This article aims to rescue and highlight the protagonism of Black women in the fight against slavery in Brazil, combating the historical erasure promoted by traditional historiography. The methodology employed consists of a bibliographic and documentary review, which analyzes the biographies of leaders such as Dandara dos Palmares, Tereza de Benguela, and Zacimba Gaba, among others. The study is based on concepts such as intersectionality, decoloniality, and critical race theory to deconstruct hegemonic narratives. As a main result, the article shows that these women were active agents who exercised political, military, and spiritual leadership, organizing quilombos and other forms of resistance. We believe that sharing their life stories is a fundamental part of a more complete and just understanding of Brazil's sociopolitical formation. This diversifies historical narratives and recognizes the contribution of Black women to the achievement of freedom and the construction of our national identity.

Distance Education has sparked growing interest in the field of Li-brary Science, particularly regarding the role of university libraries in addressing the specific demands of this educational modality. Scientific events in the field serve as privileged spaces for sharing such experiences, highlighting applied technical-pro-fessional production, which is often marginalized by approaches focused solely on academic journals. This study analyzes the body of work on Distance Education presented in the proceedings of the Brazilian Congress of Library Science and Doc-umentation and the National Seminar of University Libraries, aiming to outline the profile of these publications by identifying their distribution by year, responsible institutions, main authors, and thematic trends. The methodology was based on a bibliometric analysis of papers published between 2013 and 2023, resulting in a corpus of 54 documents. The findings reveal that the topic has been under-dis-cussed and is in decline within the analyzed sources. The Southeast region and the Federal University of Minas Gerais, represented by author Maria Elizabeth Oliveira Costa, stand out in terms of production, as well as studies related to user educa-tion in libraries through distance learning courses. Moreover, discussions primarily focus on using Distance Education tools to enhance or create library services. The study concludes that it is vital to maintain thematic tracks on Distance Education in scientific and professional events to encourage interest, foster scholarly output, and promote institutional practices that support Distance Education.

Abandono e evasão escolar no 1º ano do ensino médio em uma escola estadual
    (2018-05-25) Macedo, Valdinei Costa de
This article is the result of a research on the problem of dropout and dropout in high school. The purpose of this study is to analyze the reasons that led some students from the 1st year of high school to leave the school year (2016) of a state school in the city of Senhor do Bonfim-BA, as well as to identify the number of students who have escaped during this same period. The reason for which the subjects of this phase were analyzed was due to the high national dropout rate and also the high dropout rate in the 4 classes of the first year of the school. The collected data were approached in a qualitative way and obtained through an information survey done at the school office and with a semistructured questionnaire applied to 11 students who left the school year. In total, 32 students dropped out and 21 dropped out, it is noteworthy that, unlike drop-out avoidance, the student reenrolled the following year. Of the 32 students who leave only 11 to accept to participate the rest was not located or did not accept to participate. In order to base the construction of the work, we used some researches by some authors that study the factors and consequences of the problem in question, as well as what has been done within the scope of public policies and actions. The main factors found in the survey, which led to the abandonment, were imminent disapprovals and lack of interest. There were also reasons related to pregnancy and job search. It was also noted that all students evaded in 2017, and the majority who dropped out, were aged beyond the recommended grade level. It was observed from the amount of abandonment, evasions and the lag in the grade-age of the students that the school needs urgent actions in relation to the problem researched.

Água: do big bang ao sertão
(Universidade Federal do Vale do São Francisco, 2019-12-18) Santos , Jaiiza Leal dos; Oliveira, Letícia Maria
In today’s society, water has become seen only as a water resource and no longer as an indispensable natural asset for the survival of humans and other species. We start using it indiscriminately, without thinking about its origin or why there is an abundance of liquid water on planet Earth. We started using it carelessly and without thinking about why water scarcity is in some regions of the planet and, mainly, about the relationship between water and life. Although our planet is known as '“planet water”', we know that it is distributed in various ways and in various places, and most of this water is difficult to access or not suitable for human consumption. Thinking about it, this work proposed to develop an educational product, in the format of thematic workshop, titled “Water: from the Big Bang to the sertão”, precisely in order to arouse new questions among the most varied audiences. Thus, two classes were chosen, being one of the elementary school I, specifically, of the 5 year, of the Municipal school Thomaz Guimarães and another class of EJA, Education of Youth and Adults, of the college Teixeira de Freitas, because they are public with very different views and conceptions. Interdisciplinary thematic workshops were developed, showing that a certain theme, can and should be approached in an alternative way, encompassing the knowledge of various disciplines, which provokes curiosity and arouses the interest of the most varied audiences.

Introduction: The development of Distance Education in Higher Education Institutions requires a series of adaptations to this educational modality, which also affects university libraries as information support units for teaching, research and extension. Distance learning becomes the target audience of these units, requiring products and services, especially technological ones, to support the teaching-learning process. Objective: To identify actions aimed at providing environments/platforms for distance learning services in libraries of institutions that are part of the Open University of Brazil. Methodology: This is a descriptive study with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The institutions were consulted through the SisUAB system, and data were collected by applying an online questionnaire with library managers of these institutions. Results: It can be seen that out of the 76 responding institutions, only three identified integration actions through an environment/platform for distance learning, and the service to this public is mostly centered on making virtual libraries and databases available. What stands out is the professionals' view that there is no need for differentiated services for distance and face-to-face audiences, with the maxim that all services are available to all audiences. Conclusion: The initiatives are few in relation to the universe of institutions investigated, so that actions to mitigate this information gap need to be increased and made more effective.

The Proceedings of the 2nd Geography Week at UNIVASF, held from September 18 to 21, 2024, at the Senhor do Bonfim Campus (BA), consolidate a diverse academic production under the central theme: "Global Changes and local challenges: the role of Geography in the composition of resilience in a multiscalar perspective". The event, which celebrated the degree's 9th anniversary, sought to debate how planetary transformations impact specific territories, with a primary focus on the Brazilian semi-arid region. The work is organized into three fundamental axes reflecting the breadth of contemporary Geography. The first axis, dedicated to Education and Teaching, discusses the challenges of teacher training in the face of the High School Reform and the effectiveness of the Pedagogical Residency Program (PRP). Innovative approaches stand out, such as the use of literature (works by Rachel de Queiroz and Itamar Vieira Junior) as a didactic strategy to understand drought and power relations in the countryside. The second axis, Nature and Society, explores natural resource management and environmental risks. Research utilizes advanced geotechnologies, such as Remotely Piloted Aircraft (drones), to monitor desertification and erosion processes. Additionally, the axis addresses the geography of aging in Quilombola communities and solid waste management in open-air markets, combining technical analysis with social relevance. Finally, the third axis, Capital, Labor, and Conflicts, analyzes contemporary territorial tensions. Studies examine everything from the productive restructuring of capital and labor precariousness to the territorialization of social movements, such as the MST, and the expansion of religious groups in urban areas. In summary, these proceedings represent a vital scientific record that reaffirms Geography's commitment to building more sustainable and resilient societies. The work demonstrates that the geographic perspective is capable of integrating physical, political, and cultural dimensions to respond to today's complex dilemmas.
